Welcome Aries Season: The Astrological New Year Begins
When the Sun arrives at 0° Aries, we mark the start of the astrological new year—a powerful reset moment full of fiery momentum. This point, known as the Aries Ingress, offers a glimpse into the year ahead when cast for a nation’s capital.
For the U.S. in 2025, the Moon sits at the very top of the chart—symbolizing that the people hold the power, whether we fully recognize it yet or not. It's a year of awakening, though the path may challenge us to explore unfamiliar depths. Will the largest march on Washington happen this summer?
I had the pleasure of joining my friend and collaborator, Tiffany Harelik, to explore the 2025 Aries Ingress chart. Together, we dove into what this moment means for collective themes in the year ahead. You can watch our conversation here.

Last Quarter Moon in Capricorn: A Moment of Reflection
This week's Last Quarter Moon urges us to pause and reflect. In the sign of Capricorn, the focus turns to tradition, ambition, structure, and the rewards of persistence. Capricorn also governs government, big business, bones, knees, and ancestral wisdom. But its shadow side? Emotional detachment, rigid thinking, and a ruthless climb to the top.
Contrast this with the Sun blazing through Aries—a sign of bold beginnings and fierce independence. Capricorn might respond, “But we’ve always done it this way,” creating friction between the urge to forge ahead and the weight of the past.
Venus Retrograde Cazimi: A Rare Heart-to-Heart
This lunation coincides with a rare and powerful moment—a Venus retrograde cazimi. Every 9.5 months, Venus meets the Sun in the heart of its retrograde journey, symbolizing a moment of rebirth and transformation. Old stories around love, money, worth, and popularity are burned away in the Sun's purifying fire.
Traditionally, a cazimi planet sits “at the foot of the king,” able to request a favor. But with Venus in retrograde, roles may reverse. Will the king now be the one asking for grace?
A Pop Culture Moment: Bill Maher and the Cosmic Drama
Comedian Bill Maher, host of HBO’s Real Time, is known for his sharp political critiques. As the Aries solar eclipse approaches—squaring his public Midheaven with Mercury retrograde on a world point—he finds himself at a crossroads. Will he return from his controversial “meeting behind enemy lines” and declare, “The Emperor has no clothes”? Or might he surprise us all with, “The king’s not so bad—it’s the court that failed him”?
And will it even matter?
Perhaps the audience has already turned away, no longer moved by the message—or the messenger. Mercury retrograde asks us to reconsider who we trust, what we believe, and how we communicate. Is Maher playing the fool this April? Time will tell.
I recorded a YouTube video with my astrological insights on this bold move—watch it here.
